We’re rolling in March right now and we are still finding debutantes and of course our (almost) ever-present season leader.
Alex Smith (Leicester Riders)
The Riders’ guard has had a fabulous season moving more to a playmaking role and can lay claim to being the leading combo in the WBBL on current form and contributions. Smith took Riders to a hard-fought and thrilling league win against Manchester by coming up with a near triple-double of 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Alison Gorrell (Team Northumbria)
The Team Northumbria swingman hit top gear during the road win at Oriam, when she put Caledonia Pride to the sword with an all-action performance. Gorrell found her scoring touch to harvest 26 points and was just one rebound shot of completing a double-double. She also handed out five assists and snapped up three steals
Gabby Nikitinaite (Sevenoaks Suns)
The Great Britain rising star continues to showcase her varied skill-set and is turning heads with her performances for the high-flying Suns. Nikitinaite was central to another terrific road win at Hatters, this time in the WBBL Championship as she produced a smart 17-point shooting performance and seven rebounds.
Anne Pedersen (Sevenoaks Suns)
Our only debutante so richly deserves her place as no player has been on our bench more this season than the Suns’ forward. Pedersen finally makes our starting five after a typically powerful and mature performance against Hatters. She was the cornerstone of the win after recording 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Ashley Harris (Nottingham Wildcats)
The amazing run of Harris continues as the Wildcats’ frontcourt powerhouse makes it 13 starting appearances in 17 weeks after landing a massive double-double of 36 points and 11 rebounds in the win at Oaklands Wolves. Also grabbing three steals, it was the best performance of the weekend in the WBBL.
