Oaklands Wolves, Nottingham Wildcats, Caledonia Gladiators and Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles picked up wins in the Women’s British Basketball League Championship.
Oaklands Wolves 84-71 Durham Palatinates
Starting Fives:
Oaklands Wolves:Caterrion Thompson, Beth Sarson, Shaquera Wade, Amy West, Allison Day.
Durham Palatinates: Janika Griffith Wallace, Elle Hendershot, Eliza Brault, Katie Bennett, Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby.
Oaklands Wolves leapfrogged Durham Palatinates in the table as they close up the middle of the pack, with an 84-71 win.
First Half
The Wolves were the first ones firing out of the blocks, as they took an early lead with a three-pointer from Allison Day.
With that quick start, Oakland took the early lead, but, thanks to Janika Griffith Wallace, the Palatinates pulled the game back in their favour having a one-point advantage into the second quarter.
Durham took the early lead this time but was not able to capitalise on the momentum, and therefore we saw the scores go back and forth between each other.
The first half ended with the scores being tied at 40-40, it was all still to play for going into the second half.
Second Half
The second half was a different story, similar to the start of the game the Wolves took an early lead, but this time they kept the advantage they built up.
With thanks to Caterrion Thompson, with 10 points herself in the penultimate quarter, the Wolves built up a 13-point lead.
With how this game has played out so far, this would be a big hurdle for the Palatinates to overcome.
However, that was not meant to be. Oaklands used the momentum and built a 17-point gap. The Palatinates fought back at the end, but it was a little too late.
Player of the Game
The Player of the Game was Caterrion Thompson with an impressive 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Oaklands Wolves would not have been able to create the gap without her stellar performance.

Nottingham Wildcats took the win against Cardiff Met Archers, who still struggle to find a victory within this Championship campaign.
First Half
The Wildcats stormed to an early lead with a 12-point advantage within the first 3 minutes of the quarter.
It grew to a 15-point lead, but the Archers got their act back together and pulled the advantage back towards them down to 9 points.
The second quarter was a lot better for the Archers as they stopped the gap from growing any bigger by the end of the first half, keeping it at a 9-point advantage for Nottingham.
Second Half
Unlike the start of the first half, Cardiff was eager to close up the game, bringing it to only a 6-point deficit.
But an 11-point scoring streak from the Wildcats shut down any form of comeback from the Archers.
The Final quarter saw the Archer’s best performance from a point-scoring angle. But it was a little too late.
The Wildcats stayed strong and won with an 18-point lead over the Archers.
Player of the Game
The Player of the Game was Nottingham Wildcats’ Mari Stewart. Her aerial presence was a key factor for the Wildcat’s dominance, with 20 points scored, 13 rebounds and 3 assists.

Essex Rebels 56-66 Caledonia Gladiators

Caledonia Gladiators: Samantha Roscoe, Hannah Robb, Ariadna Pujol, Laken James, Kirsty Brown.
Caledonia Gladiators go top of the Championship standings in a hard-fought victory against Essex Rebels winning 56-66 away from home.
First Half
Essex Rebels took the lead in the first quarter with a five-point advantage over the Gladiators with the momentum in the home teams hands.
But the Gladiators managed to turn things around by the end of the half and ended it with a lead of their own with a six-point advantage.
Second Half
In the penultimate quarter, the Rebels closed things back up and brought it to a 1-point game into heading into the final 10 minutes of the game.
But Caledonia stayed strong and had an impressive final quarter scoring 17 points to Essex’s eight. They won with a 10-point advantage.
Player of the Game
The Player of the Game goes to Kirsty Brown. Her points scoring today gave Caledonia the edge over the Rebels, with 14 points scored.
Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles 74-76 B. Braun Sheffield Hatters

B. Braun Sheffield Hatters: Carla Drennan, Georgia Gayle, Emma Eichmeyer, Desiree Ramos, Madison Washington.
B. Braun Sheffield Hatters seal a last-minute victory over Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles. After being behind for most of the game.
First Half
Newcastle Eagles took the first quarter with a three-point lead over Sheffield Hatters. This was mostly due to Katie Nolan scoring half of the points that the Eagles put up.
The Eagles continued with the momentum they
had and built up to a 14-point lead over the Hatters.
But the Hatters came back towards the end of the half and closed the gap down
to only a four-point advantage to the Eagles.
Second Half
The second half started strong for the Hatters as they took the lead early on with thanks to Madison Washington.
From there on it was back and forth between the two teams, as they both tried to take control of the game.
Heading into the final quarter The Eagles had a two-point advantage over the Hatters.
It was all tied up heading into the final minute of play, but a foul by the Eagles, gave the Hatters a chance to win.
Madison Washington, who started this comeback at the beginning of the second half, stepped up and slotted both free throws giving the Hatters the win. The Hatter won 74-76 with a two-point advantage.
Player of the Game
The Player of the Game went to Madison Washington, who scored the game winning basket for the Hatters, on top of her impressive stats this game. She logged 11 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists.
