Women’s Basketball League Ltd. is pleased to announce the confirmed structure and key dates for the 2025/26 Super League Basketball Women’s season, following extensive consultation with clubs and stakeholders.
Season Overview
The upcoming season will tip off on September 20th 2025 and run through to 17th May 2026, with all 10 participating clubs competing across four competitions: the Championship, Betty Codona Trophy, SLB Cup, and Play-offs.
Competing in the Women’s League for the 2025/26 season will be the B. Braun Sheffield Hatters, Caledonia Gladiators, Cardiff Met Archers, Essex Rebels, Leicester Riders, London Lions, Manchester Basketball, Nottingham Wildcats, Newcastle Eagles and Oaklands Wolves.
The Durham Palatinates will not participate in the forthcoming campaign. The club has communicated that, after careful consideration, they are not currently able to continue competing in the league for the 25/26 season.
Competition Formats
Super League Basketball Championship
- Structure: Each of the 10 clubs will play each other home and away for a total of 18 games per team across an 18-week period.
- Season Duration: Runs from late September 2025 to early April 2026.
- Playoff Qualification: The top 8 teams at season’s end qualify for the Playoffs.
Super League Basketball Betty Codona Trophy
- Group Stage: Teams are split into North and South groups of five and play home or away fixtures over the first five weeks of the season.
- Semi-Finals: Group A Winner vs Group B Runner-Up and vice versa.
- Final: Takes place on 1 February 2026
- Key Dates:
- Group Stage: 20 Sept – 19 Oct 2025
- Semi-Finals: 6–7 Dec 2025
- Final: 1 Feb 2026 (Venue TBC)
Super League Basketball Cup
- Format: Single-leg knockout.
- Top six teams from the 2024/25 Championship standings receive byes to the Quarter-Finals.
- Remaining four teams play in the First Round.
- Key Dates:
- First Round: 25–26 Oct 2025
- Quarter Finals: 10–11 Jan 2026
- Semi-Finals: 14–15 Feb 2026
- Final: 22 Mar 2026 (venue TBC)
Super League Basketball Play-offs
- Participants: Top 8 teams from the Championship.
- Format: Single-leg elimination.
- Seeding:
- Quarter-Finals: Based on Championship standings (1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, etc.)
- Semi-Finals: Highest remaining seed vs lowest, and remaining two teams.
- Key Dates:
- Quarter-Finals: 2–3 May 2026
- Semi-Finals: 9–10 May 2026
- Final: 17 May 2026 at The O2, London.
After a historic 2024/25 campaign, with over 120 scheduled games in the upcoming season, this 2025/26 promises exciting action and a consistent rhythm from tip-off to the Play-off Finals.
