With the inaugural and historic WBBL Cup Final between Nottingham Wildcats and Manchester Mystics just days away, we turn to newly appointed England women’s coach and Leicester Riders’ play-caller Matt Harber for his take on the big game at the Barclaycard Arena on Sunday.

“It’s going to be a really interesting match-up in Birmingham for these two teams.

“I know the last time they played one another it was a one-sided affair, but it is not going to be like that again.

“Both teams can score in abundance and it could easily become a high-scoring contest, particularly if Manchester can connect on a good clip from behind the three-point line.

“I will be interested to see the Ashley Harris-Dominique Allen match-up and how that unfolds. Dominique had a slow start to the season, but she really began to find her rhythm following the National Team break and of course the 1-2 punch of her and Georgia Jones is a key factor that Nottingham will have to contain.

“Like all games, if one team can force the other to play a different type of game to what they prefer, then they will stand a really good chance to win.

“If Manchester operate freely within pick and roll situations and are left alone to shoot from outside, then I believe they will win the game.

“But likewise, if Nottingham are allowed to play at pace and if Harris consistently receives the ball with advantage, then Manchester will struggle.
