With the inaugural and historic WBBL Cup Final between Nottingham Wildcats and Manchester Mystics now approaching, we turn to Wales international ace and Cardiff Met Archers veteran Sarah Wagstaff for her take on the big game at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Sunday.

“It’s difficult to call, but my immediate thought is Nottingham as I am still thinking about our last game against them in 2016.

“They have developed as a team and have numerous offensive threats, it’s tricky to deal with their inside presence and they have perimeter efficiency – so they were tough to handle.

“Having said that, their only loss this season was to Manchester and with the run Mystics have had [including the close win v Sheffield] they must be super confident heading into the Final.

“Thinking about the individuals within the teams and I could mention a handful from each roster, it depends on who steps up and performs on the day.

“Ashley Harris will be a main focus for Manchester and Siobhan Prior is consistent. It then depends on the support from others.

“Then for Manchester with Georgia Jones at the point, Amy Browne on form, Nicola Welling the work horse and the influence of Rheanne Bailey, it is hard to call!

“Both teams have some great offensive threats, but I’m sure it will come down to the team that steps up their defence on the day.

“I’m sticking with Nottingham but definitely don’t underestimate Manchester!”
