Following on from yesterday’s coverage of the 2017 British Basketball Cup Finals at a packed Barclaycard Arena which saw a crowd at the venue of almost 9,000, there are many more BBL and WBBL games to savour on BBC Sport during coming months.
First up is this Friday’s clash between the record-breaking Esh Group Eagles Newcastle and the visiting Worcester Wolves, with the Eagles likely to be bouncing their way into Sport Central off the back of scooping a historic third consecutive BBL Cup.
The following week sees a double-header as the WBBL features once again, with Oaklands Wolves playing Barking Abbey Crusaders at the Copper Box Arena in a south-east derby, prior to London Lions entertaining Bristol Flyers.
Glasgow Rocks welcome title rivals Leicester Riders to the Emirates Arena on Friday 03 February in what looks set to be a super match-up and that’s followed a week later by Worcester Wolves and Manchester Giants both continuing their quest to make the Play-Offs.
Sevenoaks Suns and Cardiff Met Archers fly the WBBL flag on Friday 17 February as Surrey Scorchers take over the baton on the same night against Plymouth Raiders.
The BBL Trophy Semi-Finals will take centre stage the following week, then coverage in March tips-off with Phoenix meeting Leeds Force and a chance to see new Cheshire head coach, Robbie Peers.
Landing a top eight spot is the aim for both of those clubs and also Manchester Giants and Surrey Scorchers who lock horns on Friday 10 March.
It’s the British Basketball Trophy Finals on Sunday 19 March from the Emirates Arena, with two huge showpiece games taking place back-to-back. History will be made as the WBBL Trophy Final and BBL Trophy Final are played alongside each other for the very first time.
Once the silverware is distributed, there is a cracking south-west derby to look forward to between Plymouth Raiders and Bristol Flyers.
The coverage in March will then be signed off with another exciting double-header which will start with 2015 and 2016 WBBL Champions Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters and Nottingham Wildcats looking to get the edge in their latest title assault. That comes before DBL Sharks Sheffield engage in what will be an intense BBL battle with Glasgow Rocks.
