Oaklands Wolves have unveiled German International Anneke Schlueter as their latest addition for the 2018-19 WBBL season.

Originating from Ulm, the 6ft guard played in the DBBL with Freiburg Eisvoegel and represented both the U16 and U18 German National Teams before making the move to the US for college.

A four-year graduate of Bradley University, Illinois, Schlueter joined the prestigious 1000-point college club with career averages of 8.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25 minutes of action; with her best return of 10.5 points per game during her Junior year.

The athletic two-way player will add flexibility to the roster and Head Coach, Lee Ryan believes her arrival will fill a need for the St Albans outfit.

He stated: “Anneke is exactly what we needed this year! I was very happy to secure her for the coming season.

“She is a multi-position player who fits well with our team dynamic and will add significantly at both ends of the floor.

“She is very efficient, shoots the ball at a high rate and is always ready to play. It’s a great boost to add this player to the roster but also as a role model for all players in the Wolves programme.”

A scholar athlete and multiple academic award winner, Schlueter will be continuing her studies at the Masters level with the University of Hertfordshire. She will make a big impact in the BUCS premier competition as well as the WBBL and is looking forward to be representing both programmes.

“It was important to continue my studies whilst looking for a new basketball challenge and Oaklands offered me the perfect combination of both and I’m so grateful for the opportunity,” commented the player.

“I’m excited to play in the WBBL and also for Coach Green with the University of Hertfordshire. I arrived early this summer to start workouts with Coach Ryan and its been great – I cannot wait to take to the court with my new team!”
