2019 WBBL Cup Semi-Finals drawn

The draw for the Semi-Finals of the 2019 Women’s British Basketball League Cup was concluded on Monday morning.

There is only one previous winner of the competition left remaining and that is Manchester Mystics, who secured their passage to the last four by dumping out holders Nottingham Wildcats.

They showed their teeth on the road against the 2018 winners with excellent performances from Evelyn Ovner and Georgia Jones helping to set up a mouth-watering home tie with Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters.

The Yorkshire side have more WBBL silverware than any other franchise, but Vanessa Ellis and her Hatters team have yet to add a WBBL Cup to their collection.

Meanwhile Sevenoaks Suns just need the WBBL Cup to complete the set having previously landed the WBBL Trophy, WBBL Championship and WBBL Play-Offs. However, they must firstly win on the road in the Quarter-Finals at Newcastle Eagles in what is a tough looking match-up.

The winner of that last remaining Quarter-Finals clash will then have another tricky task ahead of them, since they will have to go to Leicester Riders in the Semi-Finals. Riders took their place in the last four with a convincing road win at Oaklands Wolves on Saturday.
