B. Braun Sheffield Hatters dealt another damaging blow to Essex Rebels as they leapfrogged them in the table and closed the gap on the top teams with thrilling win.
First Half
Essex were looking to make amends for their loss against Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles on Saturday (March 9), and they took the lead early on against Sheffield after winning the jump ball.
The Hatters fought back and managed to grow a lead of their own to six points, but it was short-lived as Essex tied the game back up quickly.
It was hard for each team to gain any sort of advantage in the first quarter, as they were so evenly matched.
Sheffield were quick off the mark once again at the beginning of the second quarter as they took an early six-point lead.
But the Rebels once again bounced back and by the end of the half had a three-point lead of their own.
Second Half
The same story continued at the beginning of the second half, with the lead changing hands several times.
But the Hatters came out on top at the end of the penultimate quarter to flip around the advantage in their favour with a 2-point lead.
The momentum continued in the Hatters’ favour as they capitalised on the fatigue that started to set in towards the end for the Rebels after playing two games in two days.
By the end of the game, the Hatter won 83-74 with a nine-point advantage. This means that the Hatters now have a two-point gap over the Rebels in the table after another loss.
Player of the Game
Madison Washington produced a stellar second-half performance to help Sheffield bounce back and win the game, posting an impressive 17 points 10 rebounds and three assists.
