The Essex Rebels have announced that veteran forward Maria Blazejewski will be returning for the 2025/26 Super League Basketball season.
Standing at 6’1″ and originally from Northern Michigan, Blazejewski brings a wealth of international experience and leadership back to the Rebels after a standout debut campaign.
At 34, she has built a remarkable career across the globe, playing professionally in eight countries — including the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, France, and Australia — before making her mark in the Super League Basketball Women with the Rebels last season.
Her first year in Essex was nothing short of outstanding. Blazejewski quickly became a cornerstone of the Rebels lineup, averaging 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Her consistency and competitive edge earned her multiple Team of the Week selections, while her experience and leadership proved invaluable both on and off the court.
Looking ahead at the 2025/26 season, Ashley Cookson is excited about Maria’s re-signing, stating:
“We’re thrilled to have Maria back for her second season with the Rebels. She’s a hugely experienced player who’s competed at a high level across multiple countries, and she made a real impact for us last year with some outstanding performances.
“Maria is a competitor who not only pushes herself to be better every day but also challenges the people around her. Having her back in a Rebels jersey is a big boost for the season ahead.”
Maria Blazejewski added:
“I am looking forward to returning for a second year as a Rebel! It is exciting to be a part of building a competitive and professional culture. We aim to make big moves within the SLB and continue to grow women’s pro basketball in the UK. Special thanks to our supporters and see you soon!”
