Manchester Basketball have continued to build their 2026/27 roster, with Veera Pirttinen and Eva Karasaite returning for another season alongside the addition of Spanish guard Success Omoigui.
Pirttinen returns for her second season in Manchester after making a valuable contribution during her debut campaign. The Finnish guard averaged 9.6 points across 14 appearances, finishing the season with 137 points and 52 rebounds.
The 25-year-old has experience across Europe, having previously played in Germany for TK Hannover and in Finland for PeKa, alongside spells in Latvia, Slovakia and Spain. Pirttinen has also represented Finland at international level, most recently featuring in the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Qualifiers, while winning bronze with her nation at the 2023 World University Games in Chengdu, China.
“I’m happy to return to Manchester and excited to see all the familiar faces as well as get to know the new ones,” said Pirttinen. “I’m looking forward to working hard together and improving from the previous season.”
Head Coach Oli Parr is looking forward to seeing Pirttinen build on her first campaign, saying: “Looking forward to building on what we achieved last year with Veera, another returning player that is going to add a lot of value on both ends of the floor.”
Karasaite will also return for a third consecutive season with Manchester Basketball, continuing a four-year association with the city.
The British forward first represented Manchester during the 2023/24 season with the Manchester Giants, having previously played for the Oaklands Wolves. Last season, Karasaite featured across the Championship, Cup, Trophy and Play-offs, making 23 appearances in total and continuing her development under Parr.
“Super excited to be back for my third season with Manchester Basketball,” said Karasaite. “I can’t wait to get back with the group, put in the work, and see what we can achieve together this season.”
Parr highlighted Karasaite’s continued development, adding: “Eva returning for us is huge, taking some big steps in her development last season. It’s going to be fun to see what she will achieve this year with us.”
Completing the latest additions is 19-year-old Omoigui, who joins Manchester after impressing for Manchester Mystics during the 2025/26 D1 National Basketball League season.
The Spanish guard averaged 9.4 points per game across 20 appearances, playing 553 minutes and recording two 19-point performances. She also delivered a standout display in the Women’s National Cup Final against London Cavaliers, posting 16 points and 15 rebounds to claim MVP honours.
Omoigui now makes the step up to Super League Basketball, and is relishing the opportunity to continue her development at the next level.
“I’m very excited about this new challenge and I am eager to start this new season,” said Omoigui. “I want to keep developing as a player and competing at the highest level, but above all, contribute everything I can to the team, both on and off the court.
“I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates, learning from this experience and enjoying every bit of it.”
Parr added: “I’m glad Success is with us at MCR, being another MMU student that is taking a leap to the next level. It’ll be a great year of development for Success, looking forward to seeing her journey.”
With Pirttinen and Karasaite providing continuity and Omoigui stepping up from the Mystics, Manchester continue to assemble their roster ahead of the 2026/27 Super League Basketball season.
