Tipping off the 2024/25 awards season, Cardiff Met Archers’ Abigail Yunker has won the first honour of the post-season as he scooped the Molten Community Champion Award for her tireless work away from Super League Basketball action.
Alongside balancing her own playing career with Cardiff Met Archers and postgraduate studies in sports coaching, Abi serves as Head Coach of the club’s U18 Women’s National League team.
She’s dedicated countless hours to delivering basketball taster sessions in local schools, leading inspiring talks for female athletes through Cardiff Met’s ArcHER events, and hosting assemblies across Cardiff to encourage youth participation in basketball.
Abi’s work continues to create opportunities, break down barriers, and inspire the next generation of female players.
Reflecting on her win, Yunker said:
“I am super thankful for this award and the for the opportunity to be a part of the Cardiff community for the past few years. I especially had a blast coaching the U18 women and sharing a love for the game!
“The Archers and Basketball Wales are doing great things for basketball in the UK, and I’m excited to watch it continue to grow!”
