Manchester Basketball star headlines Molten All-Defensive Team of the Year

Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the roster for the Molten All-Defensive Team of the Year, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches and Captains.

Manchester Basketball’s Davida Dale led the way in the voting, accuring 19 of a possible 20 votes (Coaches and Captains are not permitted to vote for their own club members), after a stellar season for the north-west franchise.

The talented guard averaged an incredible 3.5 steals per game in Championship action to lead all players in the SLB, and formed a often devastating partnership with teammate Danni Williams – with both becoming the first pair of teammates in league history to notch a triple-double in the same game. She also notched the first-ever quadruple-double in league history, leaving an indeliable mark on the SLB record books in just her first season in the league.

Following closely behind Dale is B. Braun Sheffield Hatters guard Emma Gandini, with 16 votes. Like the Manchester Basketball star, Gandini is also one the league’s leading steals specialists as the Hatters hooper averaged 2.7 per game in Championship action. Alongside Laura Zolper, she was a cornerstone of the team’s perimeter defence as Vanessa Ellis’ side finished second overall in the Regular Season.

Rounding out the roster are two guards and this roster’s sole post presence as Shanice Beckford-Norton, Shanique Lucas and Brooke Flowers complete this fabulous five of defensive dynamos. Beckford-Norton’s first season in Oaklands saw her bring the winning ways of the London Lions in years gone by up the M1 to St Alban’s, as Lucas and Flowers shone in debut SLB campaigns.
