Sheffield Hatters star unanimously chosen to headline Molten All-British Team of the Year

Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the roster for the Molten All-British Team of the Year, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches and Captains.

B. Braun Sheffield Hatters baller Georgia Gayle was a unanimous selection to the roster, racking up 20 of a possible 20 votes as she helped guide Vanessa Ellis’ side to second place in the Regular Season and a Cup Final appearance as well.

Whatever the Hatters have required of her this season, the Great Britain international has delivered as a consistent source of leadership and positive contributions in the face of a plethora of injuries to key players that very much hampered Sheffield’s sights on claiming silverware thus far in the campaign.

The Oaklands Wolves duo of Shanice Beckford-Norton and Sam Ashby are next up to join this roster with 19 and 18 votes respectively. Both have come to new situations this year with Lee Ryan’s side from the London Lions and Leicester Riders and risen to the challenge emphatically of taking their new home on the road to unprecedented feats for the St Albans club.

Beckford-Norton’s winning know-how has been an invaluable addition to the team, not to mention the several attributes she brings as a player on the court, and Ashby’s sophomore season in the league has been even more sublime than her first as she took home MVP honours in a Cup Final where she was instrumental in securing Oaklands’ first-ever silverware.

Katie Januszewska marks arguably her most impressive professional campaign to date with a selection to this roster and certainly ranks as one of the players who goes into the post-season in the best run of form, with the 20-year-old averaging over 17 points per game since the end of January.

Kirsty Brown completes this roster, making it three players with a Riders connection in this year’s cohort. Now with the Caledonia Gladiators, the 25-year-old star has shown herself to be one of the most versatile bigs in the league with her IQ and shooting prowess making her more than a traditional interior threat.

Capable of spreading the floor on offence, she’s active and vocal on the defensive end as well, specialising in many of the intangibles that can often make the difference in Championship-winning rosters, as was the case in January’s infamous Trophy Final win for the Gladiators.
