The latest WBBL All-Star Five includes both of the league’s top two scorers alongside the two most frequent faces in the weekly team, joined by one debutant whose team remained unbeaten in WBBL Championship play.

Alison Gorrell – Newcastle Eagles
The WBBL’s leading scorer, Gorrell makes her third All-Star Five appearance in a row to coincide with Newcastle’s excellent recent form. She once again came close to a triple-double in Sunday’s comprehensive defeat of Caledonia Pride – Eagles’ third straight win – with 30 points including 12-17 (70%) interior shooting, along with nine assists and seven rebounds.

Jasmine Joyner – Nottingham Wildcats
Joyner leads all players in weekly honours, this being her eighth showing and fourth in the last five weeks. On this occasion she led Wildcats into the WBBL Trophy Final for the first time since they were losing finalists in the inaugural competition six years ago, recording a big double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds, with four steals, against Manchester Met Mystics. That included 13 points in a startling 33-4 spell over 13 second half minutes to win the game.

Holly Winterburn – Leicester Riders
Second in total appearances, with seven, and making her second in the last three weeks, is Leicester’s dynamic guard Holly Winterburn. Riders got back to winning ways on the road in Manchester, with Winterburn also coming close to a huge triple-double with 17 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. That included seven points, six boards and two assists in a fourth quarter her team won 27-7.

Cassie Breen – London Lions
Returning to the All-Star Five for her fourth appearance, but first in a month, is the league’s second leading scorer and second most deadly three-point shooter, Cassie Breen. Lions remain unbeaten in the league, as Breen scored 22 points in just 24 minutes, including 4-7 (57%) from long range, to go with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Lavinia Da Silva – Sevenoaks Suns
Da Silva is the only new face in this week’s All-Star Five, as Sevenoaks Suns remained the other unbeaten team in WBBL Championship play when she put up a big double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds in their win on the road at Durham. After scoring the opening two buckets of the game as Suns led from tip-to-buzzer, she added seven in three minutes over the first quarter break in the decisive tear.
