Cardiff Met Archers 66-85 Caledonia Gladiators

Caledonia Gladiators keep their title hopes alive as they went two points clear, at the top of the Women’s British Basketball League Championship table, with a 66-85 win away from home over Cardiff Met Archers.
First Half
The Gladiators took the lead early into the game building up a five-point lead.
The Archers came back and tussled for the lead, but came off worse, with a 10-point gap forming at the end of the first quarter.
The final 10 minutes of the half were a lot better for the Welsh side, as they put up a fight against the Gladiators. But it was still not quite enough to close the gap between the two sides.
Second Half
Caledonia had an 11-point advantage over the Archers, which gave them a chance to fight back and take the victory.
The Gladiators extended their lead to 20 points at the beginning of the third quarter. From there they kept their lead around the twenty-point mark, keeping the Archers out of range.
The last quarter had some positives for Cardiff Met Archers, they managed to outscore the Gladiators within a quarter. Ultimately, they lost by a 19-point deficit.
Player of the Game
Even though she was on the losing team, Cardiff Met Archers Haylee Saurette’s impressive stats gave her team a fighting chance in the match, with 18 points scored, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Oaklands Wolves 69-76 Manchester Giants

Manchester Giants are now level on points with the Oakland Wolves, after a tight-fought game between the two sides, where they won 69-76.
First Half
Manchester Giants lost the jump ball but took the lead, thanks to a missed lay-up from the Wolves.
From there, the Giants took control of the game and managed to grow a nine-point cushion over the Wolves.
But with two late lay-ups, Caterrion Thompson brought the advantage to only 7 points.
With that, the momentum was swung in the Wolves’ favour, and they started to close the gap to the Giants.
With only five seconds left in the first half, Caterrion Thompson tied the game up, making it a level game at a 38-38 scoreline.
Second Half
Both teams went back and forth in the third quarter trying to take the lead and build an advantage.
But after the 10 minutes everything was still level and it was all to play for in the final quarter of the game.
The Wolves took the lead, extending it to a five-point advantage in their favour. But thanks to Myah Pace, the Giants, went in front and there was no stopping them for the rest of the game.
Player of the Game
Oaklands Wolves’ Caterrion Thompson scored a mind-blowing 32 points, with 13 rebounds also to her name.

Leicester Riders 60-52 Essex Rebels

Leicester Riders, are back in the fight at the top of the table after they won at home 60-52 against the Essex Rebels.
First Half
The first quarter was a dominant performance from the Riders, as they took the lead early on and built up a 13-point advantage.
The second quarter was a lot closer between the two teams, but the Rebels were only able to not close the gap by a single point.
Second Half
The second half saw a change in momentum, where the Rebels, were the stronger side.
This allowed them to close the gap to only six points, meaning it was all to play for in the final 10 minutes of the game.
The Rebels continued to fight back and try and get the victory, but it was not meant to be, as the Riders held on and stopped any comeback attempt.
Player of the Game
McKenzie Johnston put in a solid performance for Leicester Riders, with 15 points scored, seven rebounds and four assists.

Nottingham Wildcats 49 – 105 London Lions

London Lions remained unbeaten as they secured a comfortable victory against Nottingham Wildcats.
First Half
The first quarter was a demolition by the Lions, they ran riot amongst the Wildcats defence, scoring 33 points to the Wildcats’ nine.
This set the tone for the rest of the game, and it proved a a real challenge for the Wildcats to get anything out of the game.
The relentless attack continued from the Lions, who gave no hope for their prey, as their lead continued to grow bigger and bigger.
As the first half concluded, the Lions had a commanding 38-point advantage over the Wildcats.
Second Half
The Lions saw the score getting higher in their favour, as they started to wind down to conserve energy for future fixtures.
This was evident in the final 10 minutes of the game, as it was the closest quarter of the game, with only a seven-point difference between the two teams.
But it came to no avail, as the Lions won with a 56-point gap to the Wildcats, showing why they are the only unbeaten team in the league.
Player of the Game
There are many contenders, but for this match it has to go to Mega Gusafson, who had an impressive performance off the bench today for the Lions, with 15 points, four rebounds and an assist.
