Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters have added to their ranks for the 2017-18 WBBL campaign with the signing of New Zealand point guard, Adoniah Lewis.
A British passport-holder, the Hamilton native is known simply as ‘Doni’ to her colleagues and played last year with Werribee Devils in Melbourne.
Lewis played representative basketball in her homeland throughout her junior years, including making the Under 20 national team.
Following a spell at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Georgia, she returned to Oceania to take up a role as the basketball development officer for the Cook Islands. Lewis then represented Cook Islands at the 2016 FIBA 3×3 World Championships in China.
The husband of Lewis currently plays professional rugby league with Wakefield Trinity, while the acquisition of the guard is a particularly good scoop for Hatters, having lost the services of Jo Lowry and the now retired Ellis Clayton at the end of last season.
