Palatinates star shines to beat Giants, Eagles Battle hard against Archers, Rebels clinch overtime win over Wolves

Janika Griffith Wallace, scores 50 past Manchester Giants, as she helped Durham Palatinates win against the Manchester Giants, 73-81 away from home.

First Half

Manchester Giants, dew the first blood from their visitors, started strong taking a seven-point lead, over the team from Durham.

But the Palatinates were quick to strike back and take the lead, and from there, it was back and forth between the two teams. Before a late two-point layup made by Sophie Klassen gave them a three-point cushion at the end of the first quarter.

The momentum was carried over from the Palatinates, as they went 10 points clear of Manchester.

But as the Palatinates did, the Giants pulled the lead back and tied the game level at 34-34.

However, the Palatinates had something to say about that. Eliza Brault and Janika Griffith Wallace, scored five points each, with both scoring a layup and a three-point jump shot. Which gave Durham a five-point advantage at the end of the half

Second Half

The third quarter played out the same way the other two previously had, with it being a close game between the two sides. The Giants however managed to bring the scoreline to within only two points. It was all to play for in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Having already had an impressive game,  Janika Griffith Wallace went above and beyond. Already amassed 32 points at this point in the game. She went on to add to that tally and increase it to 50 points.

Her performance in the final quarter helped the Palatinates clinch the game 73-81

UNBEATABLE Player of the Game

There is only one contender for Player of the Game, and that is Janika Griffith Wallace. With not only 50 points scored, within the game, She bucketed an impressive 10 three-point shots, with also 5 rebounds and 3 assists. It was a once-in-a-lifetime performance from her today, and she utilized it in the best way she could in helping the Palatinates win today.

Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles: Chloe Gaynor, Marina Fernandez Pardo, Abigail Lowe, Lauren Saiki, Tierra Hodges.

Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles, stopped the Cardiff Met Archers from getting their first win of the season, as they made the long trek down to Cardiff, to secure the victory winning 84-71.

First Half

The Archers were the first ones to get points on the board. But it was quickly forgotten as the Eagles took the lead, there was early back and forth between the two sides.

However, the Eagles managed to get their act back together and create a small lead of four points.

With the final 10 minutes of the half underway, the Welsh side started on the front foot closed the gap to the Eagles, and even took the lead for a brief moment.

But as it happened in the first quarter, the Eagles quickly regained the lead, but this time extended it. By the end of the half they had a 10-point advantage over the Archers.

Second Half

The second half, was just as action-packed as the first, with the game seeing end-to-end action as the Archers tried to claw back the lead that the Eagles had.

The Eagles had extended their advantage to 15 points, with only three minutes remaining in the quarter.

But the Archers, determined to achieve their first win of the year, fought back and it was only now six points separating the two sides.

However, it was not meant to be once again, falling at the last hurdle. Newcastle showed up when they most needed to and this gave them the victory today.

The Eagles won 71-84, with a 13-point advantage over the Archers.

UNBEATABLE Player of the Game

There are multiple candidates for Player of the Game. But today it goes to Newcastle Eagless Tierra Hodges, who was an aerial threat today with not only 20 points scored but an impressive 16 rebounds with 2 assists as well.

Oaklands Wolves 86-91 Essex Rebels

Oaklands Wolves: Caterrion Thompson, Beth Sarson, Shaquera Wade, Amy West, Allison Day.

Essex Rebels: Claire Paxton, Daniela Turner, Renee Busch, Katherine Tudor, Dayzsha Rogan.

Essex Rebels clinched a win in overtime, as the Oaklands Wolves, take the visitors the distance.

First Half

Even with the jump ball lost, and first blood going to the Wolves, Essex soon took the lead. Oakland did catch up and keep the game in check. Before the Rebels took control of the game and ended the first quarter with a seven-point lead.

The second quarter was a flip of what happened in the first. The Rebels early on boosted their advantage to 9 points, before it fell apart and the Wolves caught up. In the last 20 seconds, with thanks to Allison Day, they took the lead.

They ended the half, with only a single point separating the two sides. The score was 44-43 in Oaklands favour.

Second Half

After a stern halftime talk from the Rebels camp, they started the second half strong and built up a small lead, which they kept throughout the quarter.

The game saw back-and-forth action between the sides, and it was the Rebels who came out on top at the end of the penultimate quarter, with a six-point advantage.

However, as the game was played out it was still anyone’s game, no matter the advantage.

Heading into the final three minutes Essex was up by four-points. But Allison Day was once again to the rescue of the Wolves. Two quick layups closed and tied the game.

The buzzer sounded and it was all level. We were headed to overtime.

Wolves held on trying to fight for victory, but one name was in their way. Dayzsha Rogan scored 8 points within five minutes of overtime. She single-handedly saved the game for the Rebels and was the reason why they won today, with the score being 86-91.


UNBEATABLE Player of the Game

The Player of the Game goes to Dayzsha Rogan, she might have not scored the most points, or got the most rebounds or assists. But her performance in overtime was the reason why the Rebels won today. She still had a good game, with 29 points scored, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. But that was only a small reason today.
