Leicester Riders have signed Spanish guard Rebeca Navarro form Robert Morris University ahead of the start of the fourth WBBL Season.
Navarro joins Riders after four seasons at Robert Morris University and following time with Gran Canaria in Spanish LFB. She averaged 8.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in her final season.
“I am so thankful for the opportunity that Leicester Riders is giving to me,” stated Navarro.
“It is my first professional contract and I will not take it for granted. I am excited for this upcoming season and I can’t wait to get there and start getting to know the team, the fans and the city.
“I am sure that we are going to have a great season, I followed the team last season through their Youtube channel. I believe that under the lead of the new coach Krumesh [Patel], we will follow the same path and we will try to accomplish all of the goals for the team and the fans.”
Coach Patel was pleased to see Navarro join the programme with pre-season approaching at the start of September.
He said: “We are excited to have Rebecca join us, she had a good career at Robert Morris so we are pleased to see her experience to us.
“She is a exciting player with strong all around ability and a good knowledge of the game. We are glad to have her on board for the upcoming season.”
