Sheffield Hatters and Sevenoaks Suns maintained their excellent WBBL Championship records with dominant victories, while Nottingham Wildcats moved up to 8th after condemning Caledonia Pride to their ninth defeat of the campaign.

The Hatters were the first team of the afternoon to pick up two points, as they doubled their opponents – Oaklands Wolves’ entire tally to ensure a comfortable win, with three members of the team putting double-double numbers.

Sheffield captain Helen Naylor led the game in scoring with 26 points, as well as grabbing a game-high of 12 rebounds as the Wolves found it very difficult to stop her, as well as the likes of Helen Shaw and Ebony Horton who also reached double digits for points and assists.

Oaklands did find some joy on the offensive end through their captain Lizzy Harrison who dropped 13, and on the defensive end too as Beth Sarson made four steals, but ultimately having made 11 more turnovers and scoring 19% less of their shots, it ended up being a disappointing defeat for the home team.

Meanwhile in Nottingham, the Wildcats secured their 4th win of the season against the ever-competitive Caledonia Pride who by no-means made it easy for their opponents, with just three points in it at the start of the final quarter.

Jahnae Gyles came off the bench to drop 21 points including five three pointers, and grab eight rebounds with three of them coming on the offensive end – while Praise Egharevba put-up a 12-point – 12-rebound double-double to help the hosts to victory.

Pride forward Sian Phillips edged ever-closer to the milestone of 600 WBBL career rebounds but remains just short with four to go, but she did put up 17 points – a total only bettered on her team by Taylor Edwards who scored 21.

Finally, the Surrey Sports Park saw the Suns demolish Manchester Met Mystics in a perfect second-half from the hosts who had six players in double-digits for scoring with Janice Monakana dropping the most (16) despite starting on the bench and playing just under 21 minutes.

Cat Carr was on triple-double watch too at the end of the game as she contributed seven rebounds and eight assists, to accompany her tally of 11 points, but the most impressive stat-line of all was how efficient Sevenoaks were from the field, as they scored a whopping 49% of their shots, compared to their opponents’ 24%.

One of the areas the Mystics, led by Lauren Thomas-Johnson with ten, struggled the most in was the paint, as they scored 30 points less than their opponents up close, often being forced to take difficult shots from behind the arc or from mid-range.
