Wolves Score First Win, Joy for Riders, Wildcats, Archers

In a busy Saturday, Oaklands Wolves scored their first ever WBBL Championship win, while just two other teams remained winless in this campaign after defeats today.

Wolves travelled to Edinburgh, and prevailed over Caledonia Pride by 69-55 as Aliz Varga scored 20 points to lift her team into a Play-off spot in the early league table.

Elsewhere, Leicester Riders remain unbeaten, moving to 3-0, after a defensive masterclass saw them beat Team Northumbria 69-53 on the road. Riders had leaked 25 first quarter points, but then only conceded 28 in the remainder of the game.

In another defensive encounter, Cardiff Met Archers edged out BA London Lions by 54-47 with Merissa Quick’s 25 points proving to be the performance of the day, leaving Lions winless.

Finally, Durham Palatinates are the other side yet to win, after they were overpowered 92-65 by Nottingham Wildcats, who are back on track after consecutive wins.
